Danderyd
The municipality of Danderyd is one of Sweden’s wealthiest, with residential districts such as Djursholm and Stocksund. Sweden’s most elevated status of education is to be found here. The municipality has many ancient monuments and there are also several grave fields from the Bronze Age in the district.
Curling and ice hockey have become well-established sports in Danderyd. The Swedish World Cup Gold Medal winning curling team of 1973 came from here, as well as a number of Swedish Championship and Stanley Cup winning ice hockey players. In 2005, Europe’s largest curling hall was built in Danderyd.
In Danderyd, the main site of local commerce is known as Mörby Centrum. At the present time, there are around 65 shops and 800 parking spaces. The shopping centre will soon change its name to Danderyds Centrum and at the time of writing, 18,000 square meters are being built on to create a modern boutique mall with an extensive selection of shops, restaurants and office spaces.
